Description:
Taken at Scott County Career and Technical Center in the Greenhouse. No filter. May 10, 2018. My mother knows the interpreter that works for the school system and is 90% deaf so she met her through the translation services at ETSU, where the interpreter performed her services. My mother and I were students, simultaneously, in 2014-2015, where she was trying to complete her degree (focusing in accounting) she began in mid-1970s. I am working on my Accounting degree in Business. (Where the title of the picture comes from; Accountants are known to be called 'bean counters' and in the center of the photo is a succulent that is called 'Jelly Bean') She was in search of purchasing vegetable plants for our personal gardens, floral arrangements for her close friend's mother who had just undergone hip surgery due to a recent fall, and she knew that the greenhouse advertised having a variety of succulents! The vast array of varieties that the students and community of faculty have produced is absolutely breathtaking. Their hard work and time spent dedicated to maintaining and nurturing these plants is inspiring and brings a sense of nostalgic memories of my Mammaw, who was known for her love of gardening and green thumb! The opportunity of gardening being available in the education system is instrumental to sustainability and keeping our area flourishing with beauty.
