Movie Night – Shrek- August 24, 2019 at Sunset

Our FREE movie event is coming up just in time for a back to school break. The movie being shown is Shrek and will be fun for the whole family. There will be popcorn, drinks, and candy for sale. Backdraft BBQ will also be set up outside the theatre. The band Nina Plus Two will be performing before the movie begins. They play a variety of music including traditional bluegrass, country, gospel, and mountain music. Over 100 years of music experience combined. More information about the band can be found below.

Members of Nina Plus Two are Willie Cradic guitar/harmonica/vocal, Nina Ketron bass/vocal, and Igeary Pearcy guitar/mandolin/vocal. Two of the members have performed at The Carter Fold, Igeary in singing and playing instruments and Nina clogging with the Dr. Joe Smiddy & Reedy Creek band.

Igeary is a self taught ear musician who started playing at the age of eight years old learning the music of Bill Monroe, Stanley Brothers, Flat and Scruggs, Chet Atkins, Floyd Cramer and others. He enjoys playing music with his family in church services and performed many years with Jimmy Carter and the Shorthills Ramblers. Igeary is able to play and teach all stringed instruments.

Nina started playing piano as a young girl in a small country church then as a high school band student played percussion instruments. As an adult, she became inspired to play the bass when she saw how much fun Ruth McClain, of the McClain Family Band, had playing the bass at Carter Fold. Nina has been a student of the Mountain Empire Community College School of Mountain Music. She often plays bass for Bill McCall who is 94 years old and was a friend of AP Carter and his family.

Willie started his music career as a seven year old beating on a bucket or anything that would make noise. His dad told him if he would stop that racket, he would buy him a guitar which he did. Willie won a talent contest playing the guitar at the age of 11 and sung on the radio as a teenager while in high school. He has performed with other bands including Golden Strings.
